Frequently asked questions about the Ceiling skirting category
What is Ceiling skirting and what is it used for?
Ceiling skirting is a decorative molding for the junction between wall and ceiling, used to hide seams, finish interiors and accommodate LED lighting. Our range includes MDF and LUX moldings in sizes 22x22, 46x46, 55x55, 60x20, 96x96 mm and lengths 2000–2750 mm.
What sizes of ceiling skirting are available?
We offer skirtings in lengths 2000 mm and 2750 mm with cross-sections 22x22, 30x30 (MDF OPUS), 46x46, 55x55, 60x20 and 96x96 mm. Exact dimensions depend on model (LUX, EXCLUSIVE, OPUS).
What materials are ceiling skirtings made of?
Our range includes MDF (OPUS series) and LUX/EXCLUSIVE polyurethane/foam skirtings. MDF is solid and paintable; LUX/EXCLUSIVE are lighter and easier to install with decorative textures.
Are skirtings suitable for stretch (tensioned) ceilings?
Yes — many LUX models and slimmer profiles (e.g. 22x22, 30x30 MDF OPUS) can be used with stretch ceilings if fixed correctly and a technical gap is left between the skirting and the ceiling film.
How to glue ceiling skirting to the wall and ceiling?
Use a suitable mounting adhesive for moldings or MDF. Apply adhesive in strips or dots to the back, press the skirting in place and support with tape for 10–15 minutes; mitre corners at 45° or use corner pieces.
Which models are suitable for LED lighting installation?
Profiles with an internal channel work best — e.g. PROFIIL LED VALGUSRIBALE 2m and wider skirtings like 60x20 or 96x96 mm can hide LED strips and provide light diffusion.
What's the difference between LUX, EXCLUSIVE and OPUS series?
OPUS is an MDF series (e.g. 30x30x2750), sturdy and paintable. LUX and EXCLUSIVE are lighter decorative moldings (22x22, 46x46, 55x55, 60x20, 96x96) with finished textures and easier installation.
Are extra fasteners required or is adhesive enough?
Usually a quality mounting adhesive and temporary tape support are enough for LUX/EXCLUSIVE and MDF skirtings. Very wide/heavy profiles (96x96 mm) may require additional fixings or anchors if needed.
How to mitre ceiling skirting corners at 45°?
Use a mitre box or mitre saw: place the skirting in the box, mark 45° and saw carefully. MDF OPUS 30x30 and thinner LUX profiles suit a hand saw or fine-toothed blade; denser materials may need finer blades.
How much extra material should I order for a room?
Order a waste allowance of about 5–10% for cuts and mistakes. With skirting lengths of 2000–2750 mm, choose closer to 10% extra for complex rooms and mitred corners.
